| Shooter have been through a lot of lineup changes and a fair few names, the following is a brief, (ha), list of the history so far; Early
2000 - SOC385 was formed with original members Neale, (current
guitarist), Martin (a different one) on Drums, Lorraine on vocals and
Justin on Bass. After our first gig in May 2000 at the
Freebutt in Brighton, bass player Justin leaves the band in a 'showbiz'
strop after the gig finished never to be seen again. In October
2000 we auditioned for a bass player and keyboard player and
found John on the keyboards. After not finding a bass player for a while
that would stay with the band in February 2001 we found
Wayne. Around this point we renamed the band to Protocol. After a break Neale, Martin and John got back together in December 2001. We auditioned for female singer and got Nic!!! and shortly after that we recruited Brad on bass and renamed the band briefly to Pony.......I never really knew why..... In February 2002 we went through what seemed like an eternity trying to come up with a new band name the following is only some of the suggestions that we had; caribou, poles apart, airbag, dissident, once, intact, bliss, sober, overdue, think of one, catapult, taken, Atonal, Plexus, download or downloader, treacle, chaser, copper, calcium, melting time, stobart, trailer, bias...... ......somewhere around this time Sarah joined us as backing singer........she lasted a few months and then left. Then sometime in June 2002 we actually decided on the name shooter......hurrah. On the 26th June 2002 Nic and John attended a 'Demo Workshop' organised by Brighton Underground they played the full demo recording of Less Than Zero, (that was recorded mostly in Johns front room), to a panel of industry managers and A&R people. We got very positive feedback from the manager of the Electric Soft Parade and a promoter called Lisa Lout. Apparently the production of the demo wasn’t as good as it could have been. But what do you expect when it was recorded in Johns tiny front room, with the bathroom acting as the vocal booth. You can check out an MP3 of Less than zero on the music page. On 23rd July 2002 Martin left the band, on the 27th August Brad went to Tibet to find himself or something, and then proceeded to leave the band on 10th October 2002. Around this point the remaining members Neale, Nic and John, (still keeping up???), went through an....er creative period...... alright we struggled to find a drummer and bass player, (again), so actually sat down to write some songs instead, it was quite constructive, and most of the masterpieces that hear today came from this period. In January 2003 Martin joined us as bass player, and shortly after due to a lack of willing or able drummers, John decided to give up keyboard duties to concentrate on playing the drums....lazy get, I'm sure he just wanted to sit down all the time. In June 2003 we played our first gig with this lineup at the Waterfront in Worthing, and this is us now, actually gigging and thinking of getting a professional demo done...................... |
